The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is a huge, dark wine that saturates the palate with black cherries, licorice, new leather and French oak. Despite the extroverted style, this shows gorgeous delineation in its aromatics and plenty of vibrancy. Warm mocha and chocolate overtones add complexity on the finish. This is one of the more full-throttle wines of the vintage, and the extroverted personality of the wines from this part of the zone is quite evident, but all of the elements come together beautifully.
