Cain Five Napa Valley 2003
|
The 2003 Cain Five is very round, smooth, and full-bodied. It is quite drinkable today, but it will develop in the next couple of years, and it is sure to last 15 or more years. Although the first notes are of mocha and vanilla, a very pure cassis is hiding in the background (which bodes well), and the full, sweet entry fills out to a satisfying mid-palate, leading to a long, smooth finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon 45%, Cabernet Franc 15%, Merlot 19%, Petit Verdot 20%, Malbec 1%

Creamy oak, dried currant and loamy earth flavors are intense, concentrated and, given the narrow flavor profile, well-proportioned. Ends with dry, herbal tannins. Decant. Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Drink now through 2012. 5,917 cases made.
