Drouhin 2005 Charmes Chambertin

Pinot Noir: Allen Meadows, Burghound 93 "A pungent nose combines notes of menthol, moderately toasty wood, warm earth and bright crushed berry aromas where the sweetness of the nose can also be found on the rich, generous and notably powerful big-boned flavors yet the finish is refined, pure and while not delicate, it''s certainly built more along the lines of finesse and understatement than the Bressandes. A delicious wine built to age over the next 10 to 15 years."

$189.00
2
Fourrier 2005 Gevrey Vieilles Vignes

Pinot Noir: Burghound 88-91 "There is no reduction here however as the very fresh, bright and exuberant nose features briar, red and blue fruit and iron-infused earth aromas that complement to perfection the round, rich and sweet flavors that are unusually well-detailed and finish with punch and power. This too is recommended."

$85.00
3
Fourrier 2005 Gevrey Les Cherbaudes

Pinot Noir: Burghound 92 "A distinctly earthy and reserved but not inelegant red pinot fruit nose infused with hints of wet stone, game and underbrush introduces rich, full and relatively fine yet powerful flavors that culminate in a long and delicious finish where the minerality resurfaces. Terrific quality and recommended. "

$125.00

Voerzio 2004 Barolo Rocche Annunziata

Nebbiolo: AG, Wine Advocate 96 pts "Voerzio’s 2004 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata/Torriglione is a stunning effort. It bursts from the glass with soaring aromatics that lead to a beautifully articulated core of red fruit, sweet spices and mint that is buttressed by finessed, silky tannins that caress the palate. This long, pure Barolo combines the feminine qualities of Cerequio with the structure of Brunate in a compelling, breathtaking glass of wine."

$210.00
5
Scavino 2004 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio

Nebbiolo: AG, Wine Advocate 92 pts "The 2004 Barolo Bricco Ambrogio is the most forward of these 2004 Barolos. Made in a fruit-driven style, this plump, juicy wine is packed with sweet dark fruit. White pepper, truffles, plums and prunes develop with air, but this wine is ultimately more about immediacy than complexity. Still, it offers much pleasure."

$83.00
6
Scavino 2004 Barolo Carobric

Nebbiolo: AG, Wine Advocate 94 pts "Scavino''s 2004 Barolo Carobric comes across as classic in its expression of violets, black cherries, minerals and sweet toasted oak. It too offers gorgeous inner sweetness to its fruit, but it is more focused and less concentrated than the other 2004 Barolos. This is a beautifully proportioned, vibrant Barolo that is sure to find many admirers."

$84.00
7
Scavino 2004 Barolo Cannubi

Nebbiolo: AG, Wine Advocate 94 pts "Scavino''s 2004 Barolo Cannubi is an imposing effort. It possesses a lovely inner perfume with layers of ripe fruit, menthol and spices that caress the palate, showing superb grace and purity. The tannins are sweet, ripe and round, adding to the wine''s stylish, elegant personality."

$103.00
8
Scavino 2004 Barolo Bric del Fiasc

Nebbiolo: Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate 96 "The estate-s 2004 Barolo Bric del Fiasc is another awesome wine. Initially linear on entry, it explodes on the palate with a compelling array of dark fruit, smoke, tar, licorice, new leather, plums and baking spices. Although Bric del Fiasc is typically a wine that relies on power, the 2004 is notably refined and elegant, with sweet silky tannins that support the fruit from start to finish. Simply put, this is a remarkable wine from Enrico Scavino."

$117.00
9
Amiot-Servelle 2005 Chambolle Charmes

Pinot Noir: Burghound 92 pts "Here the aromas are quite ripe, running more to dark berry and black cherry with traces of spice and underbrush that can also be found on the rich, full and generous flavors that are sweet and mouth coating. This is wonderfully fresh and refined with dusty tannins and excellent intensity on the balanced and beautifully long finale. I quite like this as there is a real sense of vibrancy in the mouth. A classic Charmes that is built to age."

$95.00

Beaucastel 2003 Hommage a Jacques Perrin

Usseglio 2005 Chateauneuf Deux Freres

Grenache: Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 95 "The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres, which is aged in one-, two-, and three-year-old small barrels and larger demi-muids, is 100% Grenache in 2005. Dense purple to the rim, the wine displays superb concentration, with notes of creosote, blackberry, coffee, pepper, earth, meats, and smoke. A wine of massive intensity, fabulous purity, and a thick, unctuous texture."

$169.00

Beaucastel 2001 Hommage a Jacques Perrin

$415.00
13
Colin, M. 2005 Batard Montrachet

Chardonnay: Allen Meadows, Burghound 93 "The wood is better integrated and while by no means invisible, there is no center stage struggle between the rather reserved white flower, spice, acacia blossom and citrus aromas. The flavors are not reticent however and offer up a remarkable range of nuances and with impressive volume, intensity and mouth coating richness. This is perhaps less massive than is typical for the Colin Bâtard yet there is excellent focus and intensity. In sum, this is an excellent example if not truly stunning."

$295.00
14
Altare 2004 Arborina Langhe

Nebbiolo: AG, Wine Advocate 94 pts "Altare’s 2004 Langhe Arborina is sublime. Made from Altare’s parcel in the Arborina vineyard and aged 12 months in oak, it presents a dazzling array of flowers, spices, ripe fruit and sweet toasted oak, all delicately woven into a soft-textured frame of extraordinary delicacy, with notable length on the palate, and fine, silky tannins to round out the finish. Hard to resist now, it will be even better with a few years of cellaring. The stunning 2004 Langhe Arborina is not to be missed."

$95.00
15
San Guido 2005 Sassicaia

Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc: WS 94 pts "La Vieille Cure’s amazing 2005 is even better than their terrific 2003 and 2000. The 2005 boasts an inky/ruby color as well as a gorgeously sweet perfume of charcoal, black cherries, black currants, and spring flowers as well as an underlying mineral component. Superb concentration, full-bodied power, wonderful symmetry, purity, and texture, and a multidimensional mouthfeel are all found in this fabulous sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020+"

$391.00

Mascarello, B. 1997 Barolo

Giacosa, B. 2004 Barbaresco Rabaja

Nebbiolo: Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate 97 points "The 2004 Barbaresco Rabaja is off the charts. It boasts phenomenal richness and complexity in its dark, brooding aromatics and powerful structure, with suggestions of roses, tar, menthol, coffee beans and baking spices that emerge from the glass in an endless display of elegance married to sheer force. Although the Rabaja will be released as a white label non-Riserva, it is very close to Riserva-level quality. From barrel it revealed just a little less length than the Asili, It will be interesting to see how the Asili and Rabaja develop in bottle. I would not be surprised to see the Rabaja merit a higher score in another year or two. This magnificent wine will especially appeal to readers who enjoy a structured style of Barbaresco."

$218.00
18
Giacosa, B. 2004 Barbaresco St. Stefano

Nebbiolo: Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate 95 points "Giacosa-s 2004 Barbaresco Santo Stefano is a superb wine. Sweet, floral, mentholated aromatics meld into an expressive core of ripe fruit, with superb length and elegant tannins to round out the finish. Made in a more linear style than the Asili and Rabaja, it doesn-t possess the expansiveness of those two wines, but it does reveal tremendous depth, harmony and balance. This pure, sweet, long Barbaresco is the best Santo Stefano in years."

$196.00

Giacosa, B. 2004 Barolo Falletto

Nebbiolo: Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate 96 points "Giacosa’s 2004 Barolo Falletto is so compelling it will be hard not to drink it in its youth. This gorgeous Barolo reveals a deeply structured frame layered with sweet dark fruit, mint, spice and pine. At once delicate and powerful, it is a beautifully finessed wine that is sure to provide much pleasure. A recent bottle of the 1982 is a testament to the virtues of this great site as interpreted by Bruno Giacosa."

$210.00

Giacosa, B. 2001 Rocche Falletto Riserva

Nebbiolo: Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate 97 points "Giacosa’s staggering 2001 Barolo Riserva Le Rocche del Falletto offers an explosive nose of spices, menthol, minerals, smoke and scorched earth followed by waves of sweet fruit that coat the palate in a potent mix of finesse and sheer power, with fine tannins, and a lingering balsamic note on the finish. This complex, multi-dimensional wine will require considerable patience and will age gracefully for several decades. Made from the oldest vines at Falletto, the 2001 Barolo Riserva Le Rocche del Falletto is another towering achievement from Bruno Giacosa."

$294.00
21
Solitude 2001 Chateauneuf Barberini

Grenache, Syrah, Mouvedre: Robet Parker, Wine Advocate 93 points "The outstanding 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Barberini (a blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 20% Mourvedre aged 24 months in 40% small barrels and 60% neutral wood foudres) boasts an inky/ruby/purple color in addition to a big, sweet nose of creme de cassis, melted licorice, graphite, smoke, and truffles. Full-bodied, lush, and expansively flavored, with tremendous purity as well as density, this brilliant 2001 is already starting to strut its stuff."

$85.00
22
Beaucastel 1994 Chateauneuf du Pape

Mouvedre, Grenache, Cinsault, Mouvedre, etc: Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 93 points "The 1994 Chateauneuf du Pape is a black/ruby/purple wine with sweet, expansive, chewy fruit. It reminds me of a more concentrated 1985, with nearly the character and size of the prodigious 1989."

$110.00
23
Beaucastel 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape

Mouvedre, Grenache, Cinsault, Mouvedre, etc: Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 93 points "It exhibits a deep dark ruby/purple color, and a provocative (probably controversial) aromatic profile of animal fur, tar, truffles, black cherries, cassis, licorice, and minerals. A medium to full-bodied wine, with a boatload of tannin, considerable grip and structure, and a weighty feel in the mouth, this appears to be a classic vin de garde made in the style of the 1978 Beaucastel."

$110.00
24
Beaucastel 1997 Chateauneuf du Pape

Mouvedre, Grenache, Cinsault, Mouvedre, etc: Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 89-91 points "The deep ruby color is accompanied by forward, attractive aromatics consisting of black raspberries, cherries, licorice, floral, and herb scents. The wine is fruit-driven, with less structure than usual, but luscious cassis, licorice, and blackberries inundate the palate with no hard edges. A seductive, supple-textured, medium to full-bodied Beaucastel, this wine should drink well young, and last for 15 or more years."
