Kendall-Jackson Alexander Valley Great Estates 1998
|
Dark red. Aromas of redcurrant, cedar, menthol, tar and tobacco leaf, with a faint weedy quality. Juicy and fruity, with good flavor intensity but a slight greenness. On the lean side, with somewhat drying tannins. A good effort for the vintage.

Built along the somewhat drier lines that exemplify of so many 1998 Cabernets, this bright, moderately fruity, briar- and herb-scented offering finds a modicum of richness despite its narrow heart. Its entry is smoothed by evident glycerin, yet contrasting acidity rises at the finish and the wine winds up on the tight, dry and slightly bony side.
