Yalumba Winery Barossa Valley Hand Picked Mourvedre Grenache Shiraz 2004
|
winemaker's notes:
Yalumba Hand Picked Mourvèdre Grenache Shiraz 2004 is deep, dark, purple ruby red in colour. A very attractive and aromatic nose offers white pepper and black cherry with brier and bramble notes. Complex, rustic and very Rhone-like, with dried herbs and roasted meat flavours. The palate displays flavours that are rich yet stylishly expressed, with dried fruits to cream, milk choclates, dates and malt. Quite savoury with funky complexities of tar, leather, fruit cake and spices, finishing with long gravelly tannins that will transform if you let it rest in a decanter. A wine with fantastic balance, warmth, generosity and approachability.

Rich, dense and focused, with an open texture to the generous currant, blackberry and sweet spice flavors, finishing with lovely flavor against fine, peppery tannins. Best from 2006 through 2012. 825 cases imported.

On the nose, it’s all black cherry. Black peppercorns rule the palate, which also offers a smooth, claylike feel and hints of red plums. Imported by Negociants USA, Inc.

Dark purple. Succulent, sweet aromas of ripe blackberry, cherry and dark chocolate, with an interesting floral tone. Pliant and soft, with gentle tannins framing lush dark fruit flavors that deepen with air. Finishes suave and long, with lingering notes of blackberry and black cherry liqueur.
