Ruffino Modus Super Tuscany 2008
|
Modus was first produced in 1997 and is the latest arrival among the top quality wines marketed under the "Tenimenti Ruffino" brand. It is also the only Ruffino wine that is a blend of three grape varieties. Modus is the result of the combination of Chianti Sangiovese with two varieties originally from France and with a new homeland in Tuscany: Merlot & Cabernet Sauvignon.

Ruby red in color, with garnet hues. The nose shows characteristics of the three varieties that make up the blend in Modus. Delicate floral notes intertwine with aromas of red berries, cherry jam, ratatouille, blackberry, and red licorice, with a touch of mint. This complex and inviting bouquet then reveals spicy hints of white pepper, toasted wood, vanilla, and cinnamon. On the palate, Modus is well structured. The Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon meld seamlessly, complementing the characteristics of each variety. The texture is rich, with refined, velvety tannins and a long finish showing notes of bilberry, chocolate, and sweet tobacco.
