Grgich Hills Cellar Napa Valley 2005
|
Bright, pale yellow. High-pitched aromas of lemon candy, pear and nutmeg.Fat and smooth but bright, with a slight alcoholic warmth to the citrus and pear flavors. Firmly structured chardonnay, finishing with a slightly edgy note of pear skin.

Very much in the restrained but decently stuffed Grgich Hills style, this wine has plenty of palatal weight and shows plenty of firm acidity for balance. It is on the appley side of the varietal page, carries supporting layers of minerality and creamy oak and runs into some last minute coarseness that can be cured by a patient stay in the cellar.
