Garlider Sylvaner Organic 2004
All vine plantings at this up-and-coming estate in the Alto Adige are situated on the steep south-facing mountain slopes surrounding the winery in. The soil is rocky and poor, made of weathered granite rich in quartz crystals. Vines are tended to organically, and beginning with the 2004 harvest, all whites were made with ambient yeasts only. The 2004 Sylavaner shows a rich complex bouquet, with suggestions of green apples, citrus/cedar rind and geranium. The mouthfeel is generous yet fresh and impeccably balanced, with consistent flavors of both yellow and green fruit, mountain herbs and stones.
