Paitin d'Alba Serra Boella 2005
|
Paitin's Barbera D' Alba Serra Beolla is a good starting point to experience quality, affordable wines from Italy. This wine embodies everything right about Italian red wines. First of all, it tastes great with food - pastas (red sauce), pizza, hamburgers, barbecue, and other reasonably hearty foods. There's brisk acidity in the wine, along with dark berry (cherries and blackberries) flavors on the palate, and a taste (which I can't describe) that is the essence of Barbera. It can be drunk now, or aged for a very few years (best to enjoy now and over the next 24 months).

A crisp Barbera, with fresh blackberry character. Full-bodied, with lots of fruit. Slightly tart and citric on the palate. Needs food. Drink now. 1,200 cases made. –
