Ripe-cherry fruit is given a sweetening lift by lots of vanillin oak first in the nose and then in the flavors of this supple, mid-sized Merlot, and, while not especially complex or highly extracted, it is mannerly and varietally true from front to back. It can take a few years of age but in no way demands it, and it will drink well in the near term with lighter lamb dishes and lightly seasoned, simply grilled steaks." (07/08)
