Beaulieu Vineyard Napa Valley Georges de Latour Private Reserve 2003
|
|
This rich, well-balanced wine exhibits plenty of gusto, with complex currant, blackberry, mineral and cedary oak, finishing with a firm wall of ripe, integrated tannins.

Medium-bodied, with cedar, anise and sage-laced cherry and berry flavors that fall into the simple-but-pleasing category. Drink now through 2011. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 14,000 cases made.

Just classic Georges, balanced, elegant and refined, hiding its power under a blanket of controlled finesse. There’s great depth of flavor, with oodles of blackberry, cherry and raspberry, mocha, Chinese plum sauce, soy and spicy oak, wrapped in firm, dry tannins. Just wonderful now, but with the certainty of a long life ahead. Drink–2020.

Bright ruby-red. Cassis, licorice and bitter chocolate on the slightly medicinal nose; classic Rutherford character. Tightly wound and a bit unyielding, with dark fruit and mint flavors currently dominated by the wine's rather tough structure.Finishes with chalky tannins and a noticeable greenness. Will this soften with time in bottle?
