The 2005 Kurni (Montepulciano) is full-bodied, sweet and Amarone-like in its expression of sumptuous dark fruit, smoke, earthiness, black cherries, blackberries and spices. Made in a lush, rich style, it offers superb density and length, even if the tannins clamp down somewhat on the finish, as the wine doesn’t quite have enough fruit to match its structure. Still, it is a compelling effort. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2015.

Syrah

A black, sexy beast, the Syrah Brookman (aged in 50% new French oak) offers up amazingly full-bodied, intense, blackberry fruit intermixed with notions of roasted coffee, flowers, and creme de cassis. Full-bodied, rich, beautifully textured, opulent, and long, it should drink well for 10-15 years. It appears to be slightly more forward than it was last year.

Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Tight and complex, with a deep, potent core of ripe currant, herb, sage and dusty berry fruit, shaded by light toasty, cedary oak. Deftly balanced, intense and concentrated, this is young and closed in now, yet you can taste the depth and richness. Tannic. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Best from 2010 through 2020.

Cabernet Sauvignon
"There are 6,500 cases of the superb 2006 Dominus (91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot). Its dark plum/purple color is accompanied by aromas and flavors of truffles, forest floor, black cherries, black currants, and Asian spices. One of the finest wines of the vintage, it is complete, full-bodied, and seamlessly built with beautiful ripe tannins, low acidity, and a luscious, layered mouthfeel. The aromatics are even more evolved and complex than the 2005''s. The 2006 should drink well for 20-25 years. "
