1 Drusian Prosecco
Drusian Prosecco
  Organic Pinot Bianco
The Drusian Family has been producing wine for three generations. It all started with Grandfather Giuseppino in the middle of 19th Century. His son Rino followed… all the way up until 1984, after which Francesco has carried on the duties. He is deeply enchanted by his land and its grapes, and it is thanks to him that certain technological innovations were made at this historic estate. Production at the moment is about 200 thousand bottles a year of Prosecco and Cartizze, thus it is limited in quantity and of an extremely high quality. No pesticides or insecticides are used on the vines, and only organic fertilizers are employed. Grapes are harvested manually and then pressed at one bar, so as not to affect the quality of the must. The wine is stored in low temperature vats and bottled without oxygen, to maintain its freshness and youthful quality. This is a rich Prosecco with a flowery fragrance and overtly fruity flavor.

2 Movia
Movia
  Pinot Nero Pinot Noir
The Movia estate has been in existence since the year 1700. Even during the communist era, when it was nearly impossible to have a private company, Movia remained in the Kristancic family's hands. In fact, it was the only estate in all of the Collio of Slovenia to be in private hands. This estate has the best position in all of the Collio. The cellar is equipped with the latest technology and is organic and biodynamic, too. This Slovenian Pinot Nero offers loads of forest floor and woodland fruit aromatics along with food-friendly acid and a mushroom-inflected finish. Medium bodied.

2003 $39.99
3 Movia
Movia
  Tocai Friulano Cabernet Sauvignon
The Movia estate has been in existence since the year 1700. It was purchased by the Kristancic family in 1820 and is currently run by Ales Kristancic who has been described by Decanter Magazine as having "the creativity of Andre Ostertag, the energy of Angelo Gaja and the dedication of Williy Brundlemayer plus inherited flair and determination." Even during the communist era, when it was nearly impossible to have a private company, Movia remained in its family's hands. In fact, it was the only estate in all of the Collio of Slovenia to be in private hands. Estate holdings include 38 acres, 20 of which are on the Italian side of the Goriska Brda (Collio), and 18 acres are on the Slovenian side. On this narrow piece of land, which has the best position in all of the Collio, is the location of Movia. All harvest is done by hand, selecting only the best quality bunches. The cellar is equipped with the latest technology and winemaking is kept to a minimum. Organic and biodynamic, too. This Tokai is fruity and clean with aromas of fresh cut grass and lime skin. This is a perfect wine for prosciutto e melone and light pasta dishes.

2005 $23.99

11 Tenuta di Trinoro
Tenuta di Trinoro
Le Cupole Rossi Toscana Cabernet, Merlot
The entry-level Le Cupole di Trinoro is an explosive wine. Ripe fruit, crushed flowers, smoke and bacon fat emerge from this deep, richly-flavored wine. Le Cupole di Trinoro is made mostly from lots that are culled out of the Tenuta bottling. It is an unusually complex wine at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014.
