Marimar Torres Estate
Russian River Valley Don Miguel Vineyard Roussanne Viognier
WS87
Sweet oak, milk chocolate and the barest suggestion of mint mingle with smells of ripe cherries in the attractive nose of this one, and, like the rest of its rather austere clan, it is a sterner and less-outgoing wine than expected once in the mouth. It fights against dryness and firm, acid-pushed tannins from mid-palate on, and it hangs onto just enough fruit to be counted a success. Allow it sit for a couple of years.

2003 $28.99
2 Londer Vineyards
Londer Vineyards
Anderson Valley   Pinot Noir
WS92
Pure and delicious, with rich, creamy raspberry, spice, blackberry, lavender, blueberry and fresh earth and mineral flavors. Finishes with a burst of fruit and firm tannins. Drink now through 2011. 1,949 cases made.

2004 $47.99
3 Philip Togni Vineyard
Philip Togni Vineyard
Spring Mountain Napa Valley Estate Bottled Cabernet Sauvignon
WS90
Saturated deep ruby. Reticent aromas of briary blackberry and licorice. Very intensely flavored and vibrant, with extremely primary, powerful flavors of cassis, black cherry and bitter chocolate. Still youthfully grapey. Very dense and very long. Offers very strong potential.

1999 $141.99
4 Diamond Creek
Diamond Creek
"Red Rock Terrace"   Cabernet Sauvignon
WS92
Ripe and flavorful, this greets you with pretty floral, plum, cherry and spice nuances. Quite complete, with a complex aftertaste. Has the tannin and balance to age.--Diamond Creek vertical. Drink now through 2006.

1985 $202.99
5 Viader Vineyards
Viader Vineyards
Napa Valley Proprietary Red Cabernet Sauvignon
ST92
Good deep red-ruby. Blackberry, violet and licorice aromas, complicated by leather and graphite. Wonderfully sweet, silky and suave, with an inner-mouth aromatic quality rare for the year. This very well-balanced blend is juicy, even a bit youthfully tight, and finishes with impressive perfume. Has the mid-palate sweetness to balance its firm tannic spine and offers a lovely combination of density and elegance. In comparison to this vintage, the 2003 release is more of an "upfront" wine, notes Viader, who pointed out that her flagship wine's cabernet franc element is more important to its aging potential than the sauvignon.

2004 $79.99
6 J Vineyards
J Vineyards
  Sparkling Rose Brut
WS90
At release, this salmon-colored J Brut Rosé displays layers of floral and fruit aromas; jasmine, lilac and ripe cherries with hints of vanilla, cream and toast. This wine opens with a very round beginning, followed by big cherry, blood orange and rose petal flavors that are underlined by a gentle acidity that keeps the overall impression delightfully fresh. The finish is long and clean with citrus and honeysuckle notes. This wine engages the entire mouth with a surprising sense of maturity in a youthful body.

$33.99
7 Heitz Cellars
Heitz Cellars
Napa Valley   Cabernet Sauvignon
Beautifully crafted wine from a consistent producer. Gorgeous, elegant fruit is deftly balanced with the round, supple tannins and nuances of limousin oak. The flavors are rich and full-bodied on the palate with a silky soft finish that reinforces the overall harmony. An impressive Cabernet Sauvignon!

2003 $44.99

Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel Zinfandel
The grapes were picked at moderate sugar levels compared to other zinfandels on the market. This crop was picked at 23.0 brix which then soaked up to 24.5 brix, in the tank with a pH of 3.40. This process yielded a wine that is balanced and not excessive in ripeness and showcases typical berry fruit of a classic Dry Creek zin.

Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir Pinot Noir
This graceful Pinot has firm yet approachable tannins. Mineral notes are dusted with sweet cocoa to complete the appealing palate. Somewhat shy when young, this coastal wine displays an intriguing complexity that will blossom with age. Porcini puffs or wild mushroom frittata as an appetizer complement this elegant Pinot. Try it as well with pan seared scallops over saffron infused brown rice. Chicken baked in a clay pot with garden vegetables is also a succulent pairing.

This second release from the Doña Margarita Vineyard shows a rich, beautiful color and deep, classic aromas of black cherry, forest floor, chocolate and mocha, with a floral note of violet and rose hip. The oak is perfectly integrated with the fruit, which carries on in the palate. The tannins are supple and the wine, intense and elegant, is sure to continue to develop for many years, despite the youth of the vineyard that originated it.
